THE EXPLANATION
Early on in Romania's encounter with the Netherlands, Hagi had a hefty coming together with Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries. Such was the force of the collision, the former was bleeding and that is why the medical staff felt a hair net was the right choice to stop the flow of blood and allow him to continue playing.
DID YOU KNOW?
Former Genk player Hagi is the son of Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi. His father played for Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Galatasaray, among others, in a glittering career – that included 124 caps for his country.

WHAT NEXT?
Hagi's Romania side went behind against the Netherlands thanks to Cody Gakpo's 20th-minute strike. Unless they turn things around quickly, Romania will exit the competition after a positive run to the knockout stages.
